Tania Freiin von Uslar-Gleichen, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. at the German Embassy, and Christiane Arp, President Fashion Council Germany, welcomed more than 200 select guests from the British and international media at the Residence of the German Ambassador together with retail and industry leaders and other guests from the political, economic and cultural sector.
The guests enjoyed an evening surrounded by an exceptional portfolio of established and emerging German designers.
Curated by Christiane Arp, Agnes Nordenholz, Benu Berlin, Damir Doma, Esther Perbandt, Gembalies, Horror Vacui, I’VR Isabel Vollrath, Ottolinger, Philomena Zanetti, Rianna+Nina, Steinrohner, Stiebich & Rieth, William Fan, Working Title, and Zazi Vintage presented highlights from their Autumn and Winter 2018 collections.
The guests also had the unique opportunity to discover more about the designers’ visions who were present themselves.
In her speech Tania von Uslar-Gleichen said:
“[…] all the creative professionals with us here this evening are testimony to the ongoing significance of fashion today – albeit in reaching out beyond borders, in creating a universal language while at the same time remaining distinctly designed in Germany. […]
No matter which of the designs cast a special spell on you tonight, I do believe we will all take away with us one certainty: The creative versatility and esprit that is the very soul of designing clothes will never go out of style. In this spirit, German fashion has a lot to offer.”
The contemporary collection of cutting-edge independent menswear, womenswear and accessory labels had some immediate responses from the guests:
