German Chancellor Angela Merkel attended the West Balkans Summit on 10 July in London.

On Monday 9 July, Germany’s Minister of State for Europe Michael Roth attended the Foreign Ministers Meeting of this year’s Western Balkans Summit.

Roth said: “Stability and democratic development in the Western Balkans are in the interest of Germany and Europe and are of major importance for our security.”

Germany is working together with its EU partners to promote exchange between Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia in order for the region to move forward with reconciliation, a prerequisite if the countries are one day to become members of the European Union.
