Important information: You are able to apply for a passport and a German ID card at the same appointment. Two separate appointments are no longer necessary.
Applicants for ID cards are required to apply in person after making an appointment.
ID cards can be issued for children from birth. The application has to be done by the parent/ guardian for children under 16 with the child present during the application process.
Fees for passport/ID card applications can be paid only with a credit or debit card (MasterCard or Visa, no Maestro debit cards). Please note that only the credit card owner can sign for the payment.

If your ID card was stolen or lost, and the electronic online ID function is switched on you will have to cancel this ID card immediately, so your identity cannot be misused on the internet.
