Lorry traffic ban

Vehicles affected by the traffic ban: Lorries with a maximum permissable weight of more than 7.5 metric tons as well as trailers to lorries.

The ban is in place on Sundays and public holidays from midnight to 10pm.

Special permits: Applications must be submitted to the road traffic authority competent for the border crossing point concerned.

The ban does not apply to:

  • combined rail/road goods transport from the nearest consignor to the nearest loading station or from the nearest unloading station to the consignee,
  • combined port/road goods transport between the place of loading or unloading and a port situated within a maximum radius of 150 kilometres (initial or terminal haul),
  • the transport of: a) fresh milk and fresh milk products, b) fresh meat and fresh meat products c) fresh fish, live fish and fresh fish products d) perishable fruit and vegetables, and empty runs in connection with transport operations specified from a)-d) above.

The prescribed freight or transport documents must be carried for all freight an must upon request be presented to authorised personnel for examination.

Lorry traffic ban on weekends during July and August

The ban on driving on Sundays and public holidays has been extended during the months of July and August to include Saturdays from 7am to 8pm.
