Administrative Assistant for the Federal Criminal Police Liaison Office
The German Embassy in London is seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant for the Federal Criminal Police Liaison Officer to start at the earliest opportunity.
This role includes:
- Assisting with office procedures (processing and filing of incoming/outgoing messages, file management, electronic record-keeping, diary and deadline management, budgetary accounting), administrative arrangements for meetings, visiting delegations, business trips and conferences
- Press monitoring and media research, preliminary evaluation of texts, especially on police, legal and security topics, including translation and report preparation/ editing
- Independently drafting letters in line with the guidelines (German and English)
- Translation (German-English, English-German), including on legal matters
- Interpreting at meetings (German-English and English-German)
Candidate profile:
- Already entitled to live and work in the UK
- University degree, preferably in a relevant subject
- Excellent spoken and written German and English (preferably at least one of these to native level), highly articulate
- Proficient in common IT applications (MS Office, Internet)
- Reliable, accurate and able to work independently
- Willing and able to work as part of a close-knit team
- Loyal and discreet
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Flexible, able to work under pressure, confident and polite manner
- Willing to take on tasks outside of regular working hours when necessary
- Intercultural skills/ experience
- Professional experience in the field of police/ security/ politics and/or basic knowledge of the structure, role and workings of the relevant German and British authorities is desirable
Training will be provided. Contract based on UK employment law. Normal working time will be 40 hours a week. Starting salary, which is based on the Embassy’s pay scheme, will be £4,447 gross per month. Salary will be taxable in Germany unless you are a UK citizen and do not also hold German citizenship. National Insurance contributions are to be paid in the UK. If you are successful in the selection process, a personal background and security check, for which your cooperation is required, will be conducted prior to hiring.
