A-Transit requirement lifted for Indian nationals

Article

Germany lifted the requirement for Indian nationals to hold an airport transit visa on 3 June 2026.

On 3 June 2026, Germany lifted the requirement for Indian nationals to hold an airport transit visa. Indian nationals therefore no longer require an airport transit visa to enter the transit area of a German airport during a stopover or for a connecting flight.

This decision follows Federal Chancellor Merz’s visit to India in January 2026. It underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to deepening German-Indian relations, facilitating travel between both countries and bolstering their economic ties.
