Welcome
Consular certificates for the closure of a blocked account in Germany
Blocked account providers often request confirmations from the German missions abroad in order to close a blocked account opened in Germany. The German Embassy in London can issue Consular Certificates for this purpose.
Consular Certificates are subject to a fee, currently €36 (to be paid as Sterling equivalent) and subject to change. Please note that payments can only be made by credit card or debit card (MasterCard and Visa only). American Express, Diners and Maestro cards as well as digital wallet or mobile payments including Apple Pay or Google Pay are not accepted. You must have the actual card with you. The named cardholder must be present to sign the debit voucher.
Please book an appointment using the booking link below and bring the following documentation to your appointment:
- Details/Proof of the blocked account and details of why you do not need it anymore/ want to close the blocked account
- Original passport
- Proof of residence in the UK (e.g. utility bill in your name)
- Current UK residence permit (share code incl. information on residence status and duration. The printout is available from UKVI’s “Prove your immigration status”/ visa (non-British applicants only))
At your appointment, the Visa Department will then check whether we can, in principle, issue the certificate.
Please book an appointment with the Legalisation Department at the German Embassy in London here for
“Legalisations Other certifications of copies for use in Germany”.
