Christmas greetings from the Consulate General

13.12.2017 - Article

Dear visitors of the pages of the German Mission in Scotland and Northern England!
It's Christmas time and I’m sure you are preparing for the holidays with excitement, just like us at the Consulate General. And yet the work also continues; we face a multitude of challenges near and far.
It seems important that we approach the tasks ahead with confidence and clear orientation. It's neither the time nor the place to go into details here. However one thing is clear: in times when much of what we have been able to consider as secure for decades is in question, the reflection on fundamental values and lessons from history must be the guiding principle. All technical, social and economic changes become an opportunity if we deal with them together and positively.
Like last year, we are not following the tradition of sending individual Christmas greetings. Please feel personally addressed by these lines and appreciate that we can support charitable projects with the means we do not spend on Christmas cards.
On behalf of the team, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy, peaceful and healthy New Year!
